About Miss Tanya

Hello! My name is Tanya Richardson and I am the owner and teacher at  A Place To Grow Preschool. Ever since I was little my heart has always felt a pull and love towards education. Throughout my career, I have worked in a variety of roles within the education field including Mommy and Me preschool instructor, first, third and Kindergarten teacher, substitute teacher, summer camp counselor and coordinator, baby room teacher (infants 4 months-3 years old) as well as 3/4 and 4/5 year old preschool teacher.  I absolutely love helping children grow and develop while sharing my love for learning with my students.

I grew up on a grain farm in Saskatchewan, Canada with my parents and two brothers. My parents taught me to dream big, work hard and believe in myself.  I completed my university degrees on Vancouver Island, British Columbia and moved to the United States upon graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Anthropology and a Bachelor of Education degree (K-12 grade). I met my husband while backpacking through Australia and New Zealand in my third year of university. We were married the summer before I graduated university and we have two amazing girls (11th  grade and 2nd Year university student in the education program at USU). I accomplished one of my dreams of opening my own preschool in the fall of 2005. I truly love everything about education and the amazing opportunity I have to share my love for learning with my preschoolers!
